Participant Funding Program decision – Meetings and activities with Curve Lake First Nation under joint terms of reference

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has offered funding through its Participant Funding Program (PFP) to assist Curve Lake First Nation (CLFN) in participating in formal meetings and activities under the CLFN–CNSC terms of reference for fiscal year 2022–23.

The information gathered from the meetings will be included in a relevant Commission member document and presented directly to the Commission.

Background

The CNSC made PFP support available to:

  • enhance Indigenous and stakeholder participation in the CNSC’s environmental assessment and licensing processes
  • help Indigenous Nations and communities, the public and stakeholders bring valuable information to the Commission

A funding review committee (FRC), independent of the CNSC, was established to review the funding application received by the CNSC’s PFP administrator and to make recommendations on the allocation of funding to the applicant.

The FRC members were:

  • Bruce Young, retired director with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency
  • Yves Leboeuf, retired vice-president of operations with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency

On May 18, 2022, the FRC reviewed the PFP application received, requesting a total of $34,252.35.
