Summary

REGDOC-3.2.1, Public Information and Disclosure, sets out requirements and guidance for public information and disclosure for licensees and applicants of Class I and Class II nuclear facilities, and uranium mines and mills, for all lifecycle phases.

This document supersedes RD/GD-99.3, Public Information and Disclosure, published in March 2012, and includes the following modifications:

  • Section 2.2.4, Public information strategy and products: Following discussions at recent Commission hearings, the CNSC added text requiring licensees to post summaries of their probabilistic safety assessments and the complete text of their environmental risk assessments on their respective websites. This is to be done as part of their public information programs (if the assessments are a licence requirement).
  • Section 1.2 Scope: The first sentence is modified to clarify that some hospitals are required to have a public information and disclosure program, because of the nature of their activities.
