Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report on the Use of Nuclear Substances in Canada: 2015, and submitting comments, in writing, to the Commission.
The CNSC will hold a public meeting on September 21 or 22, 2016 in Ottawa, ON, during which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. The report provides CNSC staff’s assessment of the 2015 safety performance of 1,599 licensees, holding a total of 2,295 licences, authorized by the CNSC for the use of nuclear substances and prescribed equipment in the medical, industrial, academic and research, and commercial sectors.
Participant funding up to $20,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific written submissions to the Commission.

The deadline to submit a participant funding application is June 17, 2016. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.
A funding review committee, independent of the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.
The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
