Participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Sites: 2021
This participant funding opportunity is open from April 25 to May 27, 2022.
Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Sites: 2021 and in submitting comments in writing to the Commission. In addition, in the spirit of reconciliation and in recognition of the Indigenous oral tradition of sharing knowledge, the CNSC is offering Indigenous intervenors the opportunity to make oral presentations. The facilities and activities covered by the report are located in the traditional and treaty territories of many Indigenous Nations and communities.
On November 2 and 3, 2022, the CNSC will hold a public meeting at which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. The report provides an overview of the CNSC’s regulatory efforts related to licensed Canadian Nuclear Laboratories sites in 2021, with the exception of the Port Hope and Port Granby projects. A licence renewal application for the Port Hope and Port Granby projects will be heard by the Commission in late November 2022.
Up to $75,000 in participant funding will be disbursed among all eligible applicants for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission. Participant funding applications must clearly demonstrate how the proposed intervention will provide the Commission with information directly related to the 2021 report.
