Research and Support Program

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) funds an extramural research program to obtain knowledge and information needed to support its regulatory mission. The program provides the CNSC with access to independent advice, expertise, experience, information and other resources via contracts, grants and contributions placed in the private sector, and with other agencies and organizations in Canada and elsewhere. The program is compiled from project proposals submitted from across the CNSC.

Research report summaries

Reports completed through the research program are not published as CNSC reports. Contractors' reports are only available in the language in which they are submitted to the CNSC. Bilingual summaries of the reports are available below. If you wish to obtain a copy of a report, please contact us (General Inquiries).

Service standards, research grants and contributions

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) provides research funding through various Grants and Contributions.

The CNSC has developed Grants and Contributions service standards to publicly state the level of performance that recipients can reasonably expect to encounter under normal circumstances.

These external service standards for Grants and Contributions are published to demonstrate the CNSC's commitment to transparent management, accountability for results and citizen-focused service delivery.

Performance against these service standards will be tracked, and the results will be made available annually.
